Naithon Beach, in the northeastern part of Phuket Island in Thailand, is not exactly a dream beach…
In the end of a curly road leading towards the beach, there is however an oasis of relaxation – Pullman Arcadia hotel.
The lobby of the hotel is well designed and has fantastic views over the Andaman sea.
This is not a place where you would need to stand in a queue to a front desk, as you are immediately seated to comfortable chairs and offered a local juice together with refreshing hand towels while you are waiting for your check-in.
The bar is just next to the reception and well worth some sundowners… Especially lounging in the sofas plunged into a pool.
The area and its gardens are well designed and taken care of, but there are plenty of stairs as the entire hotel is built on a hillside – not a perfect place with baby strollers in case you wish to go from one place to another by foot.
The hotel however has golf buggies that are used in order to take people to their habitation in the end of the night – and even during the day. You just give them a call and you will be picked up from your room.
There is an Italian restaurant Vero on the level of the reception, with a terrace that holds fantastic views.
The food in the Italian was good, but not spectacular and quite frankly I do prefer the Asian flavours while traveling in Asia.
The sumptuous breakfast buffet was served in the Elements restaurant next to the main pool. The offering was superfluous, but as I do love breakfasts I truly enjoyed it. Just thinking of all the fresh fruit makes me feel like going back…
There were also theme buffet dinners in Elements and even if we had our doubts regarding the seafood buffet, we decided to try it and found it well worth it – all those tempting king crabs, oysters, lobsters, squids and you just name it…
Next to the pool, there is a sumptuous spa and a cosy restaurant and bar with good local and international snacks and a truly great wine list – the views of Andaman sea combined to a bottle of great Côtes de Provence rosé cannot go wrong!
The rooms are spacious, but the standard ones are not that well positioned. All rooms are equipped with a balcony or terrace, wi-fi and a separate shower and bath tub.
All other rooms except the deluxe ones, also have in addition a Nespresso machine and a bluetooth soundbar.
The photos below are from an Ocean Grand room.
Besides the fantastic main pool, there is another, smaller, pool in case one gets irritated by the crowded main pool and the fact that all the best sun chairs are reserved by books or towels by 8 am. – oh how I hate this graceless habit that turns adults into infants…
Even if there are a lot of steps to climb in the area which makes it a bit challenging with the strollers, there are great areas for children to play (with a fantastic addition of babysitting services in the children’s club).
For sure the facilities allow no excuses for not working out…
Naithon Beach and its local inexpensive local restaurants as well as a pharmacy and supermarkets are easily reached by foot or by a hotel shuttle service.
As said, the beach itself is not what you would expect from a beach in Thailand, but the local restaurants on the beach are nice and Pullman for sure is one of the hotels I would love returning to…
