After some technical problems (my Mac Air Book let me down…) and lack of time to write (excuses, excuses as I have actually been on holiday and too lazy to write…) I am back with new topics…
Many men have a thing for gadgets – I love them too, but there is one thing I cannot resist (besides wine…) and that is cookware!
I remember my mother being always extremely disappointed when having a casserole as a Christmas or mother’s day present – which she could actually blame on me since I was usually the one telling my father what to buy her for present. Well don’t blame it on me, as I loved casseroles already then…
After a set of different de Buyers, bought from one of my favorite shops in Helsinki Eiring, I have a new favorite tool in kitchen – a roasting pan. My darling husband bought me the ultimate roasting pan from de Buyer, but unfortunately our oven was not big enough for it to fit in, so we had to change it into another model.
Coming back to Eiring, I have to say that this little kitchenware shop is absolutely one of my favorites in Helsinki. The shop is quite full of stuff and it is not easy moving around, but who cares when you have almost a full range of de Buyer and Rösle items as well as Setaro Pastas and Godard Foie Gras – with the quality of these two brands I could go on and on about, but I will save it for later.
The personnel in Eiring is usually very nice, but especially I value the service of a male vendor in his thirties with a pair of designer eye glasses and lots of valuable information regarding items sold in the shop. You can see that he loves his job – which is something I value.
My latest kitchen gadget aka roasting pan from Chicago Metallic, is already dirty and used as it should be. And good kitchen ware actually can tolerate heavy usage and does not get upset of not being polished after every single use – my kind of gear…
Below the entire duck cooked with my new toy – oh yes, you can actually find local corn fed duck in Finland nowadays. The duck needs to be drizzled constantly and by constantly I mean every 10 to 15 minutes, so this is not a dish you leave to slowly cook on its’ own.
As much as I love Le Creuset cooking ware, I was not aware that there is a Le Creuset store in Helsinki. Well maybe it is because it is in a shopping mall we never visit. Today we found it by mistake and ended up buying of few items, as you can never have enough Creusets (or de Buyers) in your kitchen. The small ones are actually for our daughter’s Ikea play kitchen – well, mummy will most likely disperse them…
The pans are mostly renewed lately and next in line are the pots… And yes, you got it right if you thing they will be de Buyers!
